Comparison of Epi-LASIK with Flap Removal and Alcohol-Assisted PRK
R. L. Lindstrom; ; D. R. Hardten; ; E. A. Davis; ;
Purpose: To compare the speed of visual recovery and the speed of healing after Epi-LASIK and alcohol-assisted
PRK.
Methods: A retrospective matched comparison of two groups of patients (74 eyes of 38 patients in each group). In the
first group, both eyes of the same patients underwent Epi-LASIK surgery with Moria Epi-K. In the second group of
patients, both eyes underwent alcohol-assisted photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). The two groups were matched,
having similar average preoperative spherical equivalent, preoperative cylinder, preoperative best corrected visual
acuity (BCVA) and age. Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) will be compared at day 1, 3 or 4, week 1, month 1 and
month 3 postop. UCVA will be compared at day 1, 3 or 4 and 1 week, 1 month and 3 months postop. BCVA will be
compared at 1 and 3 months postop.
