Richard L. Lindstrom Dr. Lindstrom, hızlı görme ve epitelyal iyileşmeden dolayı Moria Epi-K ile uyguladığı Epi-LASIK’in PRK uygulamalarının yerini aldığını belirtiyor. Dr. Lindstrom ve meslektaşları, Minnesota Eye Consultants isimli kliniklerinde, epitelyal flepi yeniden yerine kapatmadan bilateral Epi-LASIK uyguladıkları 38 hastanın sonuçlarını değerlendirdiler. Bu hastaları 3 ay boyunca takip edip, sonuçları yayınlanmış PRK sonuçları ile karşılaştırdılar. Operasyon sonrası ilk gün Epi-LASIK hastalarının yarıdan fazlası 20/40 ya daha iyi bir görme keskinliğine sahip oldular. Bir hafta sonunda, hastaların %91’i, 20/40 ya da daha iyi görme keskinliğine sahip oldular ve hastaların çoğu PRK’ya oranla çok kısa bir süre sonra araba kullanabildiler. Dr. Lindstorm hızlı epitelyal iyileşmesinin sadece hızlı görme iyileşmesine katkıda bulunmakla kalmadığını, aynı zamanda kısa süreli reepitelizasyonun enfeksiyon ve haze gibi riskleri sınırlandırarak yüzey ablasyonun güvenliğini artırdığını belirtiyor. Epi-LASIK, şu an Dr. Linstrom’un yüzey ablasyonu önereceği hastalar için ilk tercihi olmuştur ve onun fiyatlandırma sisteminde sağladığı güvenlikten dolayı en yüksek ücretli yöntemlerden biridir.
